Confessions

1. This morning I was supposed to run 6 miles. Instead, I slept until 10, drank 4 cups of coffee, and read the Richmond Times Dispatch Weddings section in my bathrobe. It was awesome.

2. On the car ride to Richmond yesterday, Preston asked me what the modern-day location of Tyre is (because -yes - our conversations really are that exciting). He said he thought it was Turkey, and I said sure why not - it's somewhere in Eastern Europe. And he said, do you actually know where Turkey is? And I said, um no. And he said, ok well you know where the Black Sea is...right? And I said, um no. And I was not even a little bit kidding.

3. Even though he explained the location of both Turkey and the Black Sea in the car yesterday, just now I had to Wikipedia both of them to make sure I actually knew where they are (which I still did not). Because obviously Wikipedia is the source of all knowledge.

4. Right now my thesis topic is: Latin. I fear this is still slightly too broad.

5. I have had 4 cups of coffee, 1 Diet Dr. Pepper, 1/2 of a Diet Coke, and approximately 4 sips of water today. OOPS.

6. I hate my arms.

7. I still have GOBS of pictures left to upload to Flickr. That I have been meaning to upload for WEEKS.

8. Today, Preston and I are going to get a wedding photo album! You know, for our wedding that was FOURTEEN MONTHS AGO.

9. I always say I never want to move back to Richmond, but the last few times we've been back, a little voice in the back of my head has been gently nudging me, quietly whispering, "Maybe...." I don't know what it is. The tree frogs and cicadas humming at night? The friendly people? The fact that I can drive to a shopping center half a mile away in less than fifteen minutes? The kudzo in the woods behind my mother's house? The Southern accents? Ukrop's? The ability to purchase cheap alcohol in grocery stores? AH YES. Behold. That must be it.

10. Instead of reading my big people books (currently: The Omnivore's Dilemma and Water for Elephants), last week I read Anne of the Island, and I am about to start (for the one millionth delicious time) I Capture the Castle. Because I'm REALLY fourteen years old.

11. Also, in preparation for my Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince viewing party with my friends from high-school, I have been listening to the book on CD. Probably for the eighth time. (N.B. the confessional aspect here refers to the fact that I regularly listen to Harry Potter books on CD, NOT the fact that I am gathering next weekend with my high school friends (now chic professional women) to have a Weasley dinner party and go see the movie together. Oh no. THAT doesn't make me embarrassed - just ridiculously, ridiculously excited ).

  1. Turkey...um, somewhere vaguely between Greece and Russia, right? (I'm not kidding. That's my best guess.)
