In Which I Am Shocked and Appalled.

I have a habit of going through periods of manic organization and writing EVERYTHING that I have to do EVER FOR THE REST OF TIME on several different calendars. This means that, on the one hand, between my day planner, my iPod calendar, my iCal, and my Google Calendar, I'm pretty well covered for the next few years. On the other hand, since I am, alas, too lazy to check all of these calendars on a daily basis (or, to be really honest, a weekly basis) or to condense them all into one MASTER calendar, often certain events fall to the wayside (read: I forget about them). Yet somehow, in spite of how badly organized I appear to be, it's rare that I forget anything big. I will admit to forgetting the occasional birthday, but other than that, I tend to stay on top of my major dates and deadlines.

Often this obsessive compulsive desire to micromanage my schedule manifests itself during the busiest times of the year [read: now], when I find that I really DO need to be looking at a calendar on a daily basis or else I will undoubtedly forget something. So naturally this morning, in an effort to avoid my Latin presentation at all costs, I opened up iCal. It popped up cheerfully and then turned sour as it delivered some VERY BLACK NEWS: it told me that my last day of classes was NOT December 9th as I had so thought, but December 11th...which means that instead of ONE Greek class, I have TWO Greek classes left. I thought that my classes would end on Tuesday the 9th and I would have the rest of the week to finish my Latin paper, which is due Monday the 15th...but now, I know I'll have Greek homework due the 11th, which means that I will NOT have the whole week to finish my Latin paper...which basically just means I need to work my tail off this weekend...which I guess I should have been anyway, but I was seriously counting on Saturday as a day off from work. So, to sum it up: SIGH.

On the upside, though, I have now been terrified into actually looking at and consolidating my calendars. Since I'm pretty sure I haven't opened my day planner since October and since iCal's format kind of annoys me, Google Calendar, you are now my new MASTER CALENDAR/BFF. Let's hope that our relationship is a lasting one.
