Micromanage What?

I just created a three page document of instructions for my friend Penelope, who is keeping our dogs over the weekend (and she already knows our dogs well, and, you know, THEY ARE DOGS (but on the flip side: they are MY BABIES)). Preston looked at it and laughed before he said, "That is very us." "What is?" I asked. "To give ridiculously detailed directions."

This statement is entirely true. If someone asked me how to get across the street from here, my directions would probably start with, "So you REVERSE out of the parking space before turning RIGHT to get out of the parking lot. And then, before you exit the parking lot, you'll come to a stop sign, where you will STOP, and then..." Etc.

In my defense, however, you will NEVER get lost using my directions (except for those times when you will), and hopefully I have anticipated any questions Penelope might have about the dogs. EVER. Or she might just think I am the crazy. Which would probably/definitely also be true.

  1. I'm sure Penelope will appreciate your instructions... I would :)
I am very similar about instructions for our dog/house sitters. I left a VERY long list for my younger brother last time he watched Nalu (which was only 1 page because I played with the font and single-spaced:). It was slightly ridiculous... I mean, this list was complete with how our dog likes to routinely be tucked into bed at night.
It's all out of love.... and maybe the need to control things... just a little bit :)
