Validated by 30 Rock

When I told most of my friends in Richmond and family in the deep, deep South that I was going to Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont after high school, I would say about one in every fifty-three people had heard of Middlebury, and most often, the conversation proceeded something like this: "Middlebury...[awkward pause]...is that a junior college?" or "Vermont, huh. Guess you didn't get into UVA!" Both of which were blatantly untrue. Middlebury is a fantastic school that is very well respected in New England and in academic circles, and, um, I GRADUATED from UVA, so that was never an issue.

ANYWAYS, I have long been awaiting the day when the world realizes that Middlebury is awesome. And I am happy to say, lovely readers, that that day has come (sort of), thanks to 30 Rock, the greatest thing ever to happen to NBC. In tonight's episode, Jack (Alec Baldwin) is searching for his dad; he meets a potential candidate (played by Alan Alda, who ends up (probably) being his real father) and, as they are getting to know each other, becomes rapidly more annoyed with him before learning that he teaches at Bennington College, a small school in Vermont. "BENNINGTON?!" Jack exclaims, "How's that going, teaching all those kids that couldn't get into Middlebury?"

Whether or not that is a completely valid statement, I don't know; however, I suspect that there is some truth to it, and, more importantly, the fact that he said it makes me ridiculously happy. Validated, at last. Tina Fey (who is, coincidentally, a UVA grad), I love you.

I have many, many, many favorite 30 Rock moments, but this one is high up there. So what are everyone else's favorite 30 Rock moments?* Leave them in the comments!

    I have a stock of like 15 episodes to work through when I get home. I can't wait. The show makes me want to sit on the floor of Liz Lemon -- I mean Tina Fey's office and just listen, and love. Do you think she'd find that weird?

    I can't think of a fav, and to be completely honest, I don't know that I've every seen a full episode... but Adam watches is religiously, and every time I walk through the room I have to stop and watch a little and I always end up laughing. Note to self: must start watching 30 Rock :)

    Keenan left me her favorite line in a voicemail, so naturally, I felt the responsibility to convey it to the internet: Jack: "It will be the performance of a lifetime. Like Julie Harris in The Belle of Amherst." (K-correct me if this is wrong!)

    My fav (other than the line about graduate students being the WORST, "Hugging: so ethnic," and basically anything that LizLemonTinaFey says) is Tracy: "I've got to do something important so that my children will respect me. Like be a senator. Or a wizard."
