Because I Needed Another Distraction

Yesterday Preston and I got smartphones. And we haven't talked to each other since.

No, no, I jest. Sort of. BUT in all seriousness...y'all. I am in love. My last phone was cracked and cranky and blurry, and this one is SHINY and NEW and makes me feel like a princess! Way more fun. Also, my new phone has a hot pink case - and not in a tacky way, but in an AWESOME way.

Preston is similarly enamored of his phone (even though his doesn't have such an awesome hot pink case), and has already explored apps, apps, so many apps! I do think we'll have to be careful with the phones - yesterday Preston brought his to the dinner table so that he could keep up with the Dodgers scores, and last night I stayed up way past my bedtime playing solitaire on my phone's eensy little screen (my eyesight does not thank me). Basically, we'll need to work hard to prevent addiction (because we both know that it's possible). But for now - for this first weekend with our beautiful, sparkling, perfect new phones - I'm ok with a little indulgence. Especially when that indulgence allows me to take EVEN MORE PHOTOS. What could be better?!

She has a very hard life.

So does she.

(Some of) my thesis books...otherwise known as my constant companions. Also, yes, one of these books is called The Knotted Thong. And who said that Classicists had no fun?

The view from where I sit at my desk. The most awesome star chart is just out of the frame. [Sidebar: I took that photo of Preston on the desk when we were in Italy during the summer of 2004 as wee, non-Italian speaking college students. Even though it's six years old, that photo is still one of my all time favorites.]
