From Preston's Computer

If you subscribe to this blog in a reader, you probably saw two cryptic (yet invisible) posts pop up this morning entitled "From Preston." This is because last night when I was on Preston's computer, I was trying to create a new post called "From Preston's Computer," but kept accidentally pressing 'enter' and thus publishing before I could get anything else written. After I had made the same mistake twice, I decided that it would be wise to give up and go to bed. Anyways, GOOD STORY, Mary Frances.

The whole reason I wanted to post is because last night when I was on Preston's computer, I found this old photo of the two of us, and wanted to share it.

This photo was taken when we "studied abroad" (read: received money from our respective institutions and frolicked around Italy. Well fanagled, past selves.) in 2004. We had been in Italy for nearly a month when this photo was taken in Rome, our last stop of the trip. This was the night that we decided to go on a pub crawl through the city. I lasted for exactly one stop on the pub crawl, making me the lamest college student to study abroad in the history of ever.

Pub crawl fail aside, however, I remember being so happy when this picture was taken, and I love this photo - it's one of my favorites from that trip (and if you know me in real life and have come to our apartment, you'll recognize it as the photo that I have on the table by our front door). I love the cheap beer in-hand, the fact that every item of clothing we were wearing was probably filthy, how we both look impossibly young, how Preston's passport holder is sticking out from underneath his shirt, how I'm still wearing my high school ring...I just love it. It's hard to believe all the changes that the last six years have brought, and I can't wait to see what the next six have in store.
