Because it's on Facebook

I'm sure many of you have seen the sudden resurgence of the "25 Random Things About You!" meme on Facebook lately. In principle I'm opposed to them, mainly because they remind me of those craptastic "about me" surveys that my friends and I used to forward to each other in Middle School when I listened to Korn and wore inappropriate amounts of incorrectly applied eyeliner. That being said, I always really enjoy reading everyone else's, and then I thought, well, I keep a blog, which is basically just writing 25 random things about me EVERY DAY, so why not? Also, SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH, I didn't want to do my homework, and here was a ready made excuse not to begin it.

So if we're facebook friends, please disregard this post. But if we're not, here is a list of 25 completely useless tidbits about me that you can read after the Superbowl, when you are (hopefully) in a football/beer/tasty snacks induced haze.

1. I listen to Harry Potter audiobooks on an embarrassingly regular basis.

2. I completely dropped my maiden name. Seriously. The government took it and they are not giving it back.

3. Although there is no way for random people to know that my maiden name has evaporated, it still annoys me when people address mail to Mary Frances [Maiden Name] [Married Name]. That is TOO MANY NAMES.

4. I will continue to go by Mary Frances for the rest of my life, but I would never give a child a double name.

5. Preston and I have already picked out names for future children (N.B. that is: far off, many moons away future), but I will only tell you what they are if I am drunk or if you bribe me.

6. When I won the 7th grade religion award, my teacher gave me a VHS copy of "Jesus Christ Superstar." I still have it.

7. I also still have my teddy bear from when I was little, and if Ness eats it, I will ship her to the butcher.

8. That was a joke.

9. Sort of.

10. No really, it was. I love my dogs more than most people (except for YOU!) and would take a bullet for either of them. Because there are so many drive-by shootings in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

11. I have no idea what goes on during a football game.

12. That being said, I find Friday Night Lights really compelling, and think that it's one of the best shows on television.

12.5. (I screwed up the numbering) I hate baths.

13. I love thick-nibbed pens, but hate it when they soak through notebook paper, so I almost always use ball-point pens.

14. They are always blue ball point pens.

15. I have a weakness for sappy inspirational quotes.

16. I'm pretty sure I might be allergic to dog hair, but have no intention of doing anything about it.

17. I condition my hair every day, even though I know I probably shouldn't.

18. My hair is naturally wavy (read: frizzy), and to avoid looking like Medusa's frizzy-haired younger cousin, I have to straighten it every day.

19. I wear Clinique Posy blush.

20. I use Wikipedia almost every day for completely random information.

21. I overshare.

22. All of my jewelry is silver. Most of it is also incredibly cheap, though I've gotten a few nice pieces in the last few years.

23. I wear earrings every day.

24. One of my New Year's resolutions is to talk to my Grandmother on a bi-weekly basis.

25. I started my New Year's resolutions today (on Feb. 1) because January was Month of The Crazy, and resolutions were unfathomable. Also, I was lazy.

  1. 3. I totally dropped my maiden name, too. My sister was like, "It's like you were never in our family AT ALL!" Um, calm down.

    4. Neither am I! I am still mostly "ehhh" about my name, even as an adult.

    14. I use blue pens exclusively, I think. For some reason, I got it into my head that forgers wouldn't be able to photocopy blue ink, because you know, the Xerox machine is their primary tool.

    22. I only have silver jewelry, too, because I think gold looks funny against my skin tone. Most of my stuff is cheap, but it's hard to justify nicer stuff when jewelry tends to go in and out so fast. Plus, earrings are like $4 at Forever 21, or, uh, so I've heard.

  2. See, I try to avoid doing these lists, despite the fact that I am incredibly fascinated by them...
I LOVE READING EVERYONES' FUN AND RANDOM FACTS! ... but I always feel like mine are lame and not worth posting. I have issues. Therefore, I think I have about 8 similar posts saved in my drafts, which may or may not ever make it out into the big wide blogging world :)
