Shameless Plug

Everyone should check out my friend Whitney's new blog! She's relatively new to the wide and wonderful world of blogging, and while she hasn't chosen to advertise her life on the internet (see: my blog), she offers witty commentary on the new generation of celebrities who are practically fetuses YET still have bank accounts that could swallow mine without so much as a gulp. Moreover, as Whitney points out, most of them also wear dresses that could probably fit half of my pinky finger. And I have pretty small hands. But it's ok. I'm not bitter that Miley Cyrus is like two years old and will probably never have to stay up all night translating Juvenal just so that she can get her Master's Degree and teach Latin to teenagers forever WHAT.

At any rate, check it out! Whitney is one of a growing number of my high school classmates (see also: Mary, Liz, Liz again, Mary Childs, Julie) who have joined the World Of Blog, and I am so glad to be able to (re-)connect with these fantastic women on a daily basis. OH INTERNET. How I love thee.

In high school, Whitney, Mary, Mary Childs, Julie, and I all wrote for a critical thinking magazine, FORUM, in which we published articles that all related to a central theme each month (or however often we published), and as Mary Childs pointed out to me recently, it's kind of funny, and also totally predictable, that we all have blogs now. I still have my old FORUM issues, and when I looked through them last week, although there were the requisite "HOLY GOD I can't believe I wrote something so awful" moments, on the whole, it was a lot of fun to visit my high school writing self, who, eerily, isn't that different from my grad school writing self. I like to think that I'm a better writer now (I mean FOR REAL I have had seven years of higher education since then), but my style, my voice, and my filter are remarkably similar. I loved writing for FORUM then, and I love writing for THE INTERNET now.

So, moral of the story: give me an opportunity to overshare about my life and seriously abuse the caps lock key, and, no questions asked, I WILL.

  1. Except for the part where I haven't updated in maybe a month. And don't plan to until I feel like it...which may be considerably longer.

  2. Ah thanks Mary! For any of your readers who are closet teeny boppers (or just enjoy a good laugh at my expense) welcome!
