From Scotland!

Hello from Elie! Preston and I have been here, a small fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife, for the last week, and it has been as wonderful as ever (we've come here with his parents twice before). Restorative, peaceful, and beautiful. The week has been a little up and down...got a little homesick for Callie (which embarrasses me, but then I think about all I've written on this blog and being homesick for Callie isn't near the embarrassing things I've confessed here), I had a mini panic attack (which ended in a good, long healthy conversastion...just not something I would have necessarily pictured happening on my perfect honeymoon), weather hasn't been spectacular (but then again, it's SCOTLAND and we clearly didn't come for the blue skies and coral beaches. HA no, definitely did not).

BUT in spite of those little/big things, Elie has worked its magic on us yet again. It's a lovely corner of the world, and a real tonic for the soul. Some highlights from the week include: drinking DELICIOUS DELICIOUS beer (Belhaven in particular), reading a lot, having our own little home (friends of Preston's parents lent us their house for the week), touring the fishing villages along the coach, and taking a 26 mile hike yesterday from Elie to St. Andrew's (I don't think Preston's quite ready to call this a 'highlight' yet. He met me at mile 11 and I'm pretty sure he was ready to divorce me byh mile 13. OOPS. But hurrah! We made it! We're alive AND still together! A good thing, considering it's our honeymoon).

We're off the France tomorrow, and will hopefully be able to post from there (we're paying by the minute here, and we've been on for um, many minutes already). And we will be able to go outside without sweaters! And umbrellas!

  1. I hope y'all are having a marvelous time! I'm super impressed by your hike (are you serious!?)....

Translation: I miss you. Please come back...at least to a (free) computer/internet combo.
