Dear MF, Stop Procrastinating

So I have my Greek final on Monday. My Greek final that covers the WHOLE semester. That's 2110 lines of Greek (I counted). Which basically means VOMIT. So naturally tonight I decided that I would continue my quest (begun over the weekend) to find the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. And now it's almost midnight, far past my bedtime, and I am very full of cookie, some mediocre, and some better (I'm making Preston take them all down to his students tomorrow, no matter how bad they are...free food-especially in class-always tastes better though, I think.).

By the last batch, I think I had it almost perfect. The trick was using butter as the base, plus some corn syrup, dropping the pan on the floor from thigh height as soon as it came out of the oven (this gets rid of the air), and taking them RIGHT off of the pan as soon as they came out of the oven, ensuring that the bottom wasn't rock hard.

At any rate, FOR REAL, Mary Frances. Tomorrow (and ideally, for the next four days), these prime procrastinating tools are off-limit:

1) baking. you have eaten your weight in cookies and are getting married in a month. this does not a bride who doesn't look slutty in her too-tight dress make.

2) facebook. just unbookmark it and stop stalking people you haven't talked to in a bajillion years. it's creepy.

3) cookbooks. stop trying to plan what you're cooking for mom's birthday dinner. it's not like you're going to cook it for another couple of weeks anyway.

4) gossip girl articles from New York Magazine...they'll still be there after your final.

5) and about a bajillion other things I'm too embarrassed/tired to list.

The simple solution to all of this is to leave the house. And really the BEST solution is to go sit in the Penn library, where I always get work done, but classes are over, and then I have to pay $10 to go into the city, and as I am currently feeling massively poor (even though I am totally planning on going out to buy more cookie ingredients soon), I just don't think I can even handle buying a train ticket. SIGH. But I MUST at least leave the apartment. No negotiations, MF. Just do it.

Ar any rate, definitely no more chocolate chip cookie baking.

  1. Looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe doesn't really count as procrastinating, does it? lol. I just realized that I've baked 2 cakes from scratch, brownies, choc chip cookies (break and bake), and cupcakes in the past 2 weeks.... I think I have a procrastination problem, as well! Good luck on your final next week!

  2. I'm telling you, the whole wheat oatmeal chocolate chips cookies (on my blog somewhere under recipes) are TO DIE FOR! I have never had a more delicious cookie in my life (and they're whole wheat, so they're healthier, right??:0) )--they were the hardest to give up (they have pb in them...makes them extra moist).
