Morning After

I had trouble sleeping last night (see whiny post below), and so after doing some dishes and making some peppermint tea, I decided to reread a light, funny book. I went to the bookshelf (wearing my rain boots, obviously, in case I should see the mouse) and decided on Bridget Jones' Diary. This was an excellent choice, as shortly into the book is one of my favorite quotes: "It struck me as pretty ridiculous to be called Mr. Darcy and to stand on your own looking snooty at a party. It's like being called Heathcliff and insisting on spending the entire evening in the garden, shouting 'Cathy,' and banging your head against a tree."

I seriously laughed out loud. Thankfully, Preston and I could both sleep through an armageddon, so he didn't wake up (it was about 3:15 or so). After being so cranky last night, it felt sooo good to laugh. I didn't sleep particularly well for the rest of the night, but the tea and the book definitely got me back to sleep. And Preston blockaded all the mouse's potential entryways last night (while I was standing whimpering on a chair. I'm really 5 years old.), so the mouse hasn't reappeared yet (KNOCK ON WOOD KNOCK ON WOOD). There is hope yet for today!
