I've spent a lot of time just now talking about all the details of the wedding (and believe me, the ones I've discussed are just a few of eighteen thousand), and as excited as I am about the party and the dresses and the food and the flowers and the music and the people, knowing that Preston and I will be married as a result of this day is always at the front of my mind.
We've chosen two readings for the wedding. From the Old Testament, we've chosen Song of Solomon 2:10-13; 8:6-7 (the 'set me as a seal upon your heart' passage), and from the New Testament, we've chosen I Corinthians 13. And I KNOW that everyone chooses this and that it's overused and overblown and that everyone knows it and expects it, but I don't care. I love the language, the tone, and the content. Plus I read it in Greek last year, so that just makes it even lovelier. I especially love the first and last chunks (the ones that are before and after the 'love is patient' verses). My very favorite verses are the ones that close the passage. I'll end with those.
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
-I Corinthians 13: 11-13.
