First Snow

We had our first mini snow last week, and I have come to the firm conclusion that snow makes everything better. When I went to bed on Thursday, the ground was covered with brown leaves dulled of their brilliant yellows and reds and oranges, the air was heavy with that awful cold, damp November oppressiveness, and my mind was whirling with the usual "it's almost the end of the semester and I have SO MUCH TO DO" frenzy.

Friday when I woke up, however, the air was covered with a wispy blanket of white, the dull leaves of Thursday were now tinted with delicate white powder, the air was crisp on my cheeks, and the world just seemed rosier. There might as well have been balloons. And glitter. A lot of glitter. At the prospect of snow, I grabbed my camera before my Friday morning walk with the dogs; they waited patiently while I took pictures, but were somewhat less enthused about the snow than I was, as it just means that they have to get their butts wet when they poop. POOR BABIES. You can find the rest of the photos in my Fall Flickr set here.

  1. I love so much that you have dogs, because it means you are the ONLY PERSON who will understand my amusement at Clementine's distress over pooping in the snow. She literally bounces around as she squats, trying not to get her butt cold. (Was that too graphic? Anyway, it's funny for me.) Of course, this was when the snow was up to her elbows, but still. Hilarious.
