So This Is Love

Ness has been stupendously annoying over the last few nights, barking at evenly spaced intervals through the course of the night. She routinely barks when one of us leaves the room or when Callie is chewing on her (really their) bone or when she hears a piece of dust move in New Jersey...but lately, for no apparent reason, other than that God sent her from heaven as birth control in canine form, she has been barking. so. much. in. the. night. during. the. sleeping.

Normally when this happens, one or both of us wakes up and yells groggily, "Ness, NO!" or coos soothingly (and groggily) "It's ok buddy, we're right here. Shhhhhhhh." But on Friday night, she just wouldn't shut up. After throwing her menacing stares, and alternating my cooing with some yelling, I gave up and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I realized that I had slept at least three hours without waking up. A miracle! However, when I stepped out of bed, I realized why she hadn't made a peep for three hours: Preston had gotten down on the floor and slept next to her to keep her quiet. And if that's not love, I don't know what is.
