And Then My Body Said I Hate You

My body is, I'm pretty positive, really hating me right now, as the bulk of my dinner last night and my lunch this afternoon consisted entirely of Fritos. Well, to be quite honest, they were Trader Joe's Corn Chip Dippers (which somehow, in my mind, sound healthier than Fritos...even though they are clearly the exact same thing). Preston saw me eating them last night and, after popping one in his own mouth, said, "Aren't Fritos just corn chips covered in MSG?" And after pausing to remember exactly what MSG was, I said, "Probably but I don't care because they are JUST SO GOOD."

But for real. Mary Frances. Get a handle on it. I had a delightful time eating my way through Europe on our honeymoon, but I don't think I can feel like a glutton any longer. As I mentioned last week, I am running in a half marathon with my Mom in September, and whenever I voice my concerns to anyone about how I have to run this race with my marathon-running Mom in two months, and how I haven't run more than, um, three feet since before the wedding, I feel as if they're like, "Oh you'll be fine! You're young and fit!" And while I'm certainly young and I'm glad that I can still trick some people into believing I'm fit, I most certainly AM NOT. However, thanks to Runners World, I now have a training plan that I VOW* to stick to for the next nine weeks.

And I have a sneaky feeling that Trader Joe's Corn Chip Dippers would not be on their list of suggestions for healthy meal options. Just a sneaky feeling.

*And by VOW I mean try really hard and probably mostly sort of stick to it, but also have days when I decide to eat coffee ice cream for lunch and watch Barefoot Contessa. And then go to bed.

  1. I'm pretty sure the Trader Joes ones are all natural - no MSG. Or at least so they say.
