Update

So when I was walking Callie just now, I ran into one of the tech guys who also lives in our building. Apparently, we're not running on a generator; the school where we live runs on three phases of power. At the moment, two of those three phases are out (which is why we're getting really dim lights, a few working sockets, etc.)...but they're working on fixing them now. Hooray.
