Sneak Preview

As I mentioned last week, our professional wedding photos finally arrived on Friday, and I have had so much fun looking through them (aside from the fact that HOLY GOD why did I not know/why did no one tell me to steam my wedding dress before I had a slew of fancy (and very expensive) wedding pictures taken?). BUT overall, it's been a lot of fun to look at these pictures and relive the day, without having to, you know, relive the day. I have several pictures I really, really love, and am kind of sad that I just can't have pictures of our wedding EVERYWHERE YOU TURN, but alas, we live in an apartment (a spacious apartment, but still, an apartment), and too much wedding is, let's face it, vomitous. As usual, my favorites are the candids, and of those, the two pictures below are, I think, my favorites from the whole day.

This one was taken during our first dance, which was mostly horrifying because we hadn't practiced AT ALL. We were so bad, in fact, that Preston started laughing, and that made me, as tense and embarrassed as I was, start laughing as well. It was a brief moment in the day that was only ours, and I love that our photographer captured us laughing at ourselves. Because, really, this is what our relationship looks like most of the time. Minus the fancy clothes and pretty lights.

This picture might be my favorite from the day. Walking out the front door to a shower of rose petals with a bag full of stolen meat and champagne from the reception (see that black Lonchamp bag that Preston's carrying? YEAH. It's full of tenderloin, bacon-wrapped scallops, fruit, and Korbel. Which, in the end, we didn't even eat/drink because we got to our hotel, and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW you're pretty sleepy after three days full of ALL WEDDING ALL THE TIME.) to be greeted by the people you love most--few moments have ever been as lovely. Selfishly, I love this picture because it is filled with my people: my brothers (can you spot them? It's not hard), and some of my dearest friends from high school and college. I love the colors, I love how happy everyone looks, I love that, at this point, Project: Wedding was over, I just love it, and I hope that both of these photos have a place in our home forever. More to come this weekend!

  1. I just love these pictures, particularly the first one. Also, there was NO WAY that dress was going to last 5 minutes without wrinkling. It's what satin does. And you looked gorgeous and elegant and perfect, so whatever. Wrinkles. Bah.

(On a side note, my first class tomorrow got canceled because the professor is sick. I feel bad because I really like her...but I am also VERY happy to be able to sleep in and take my time when it comes to translating the Hebrew that I didn't do over the weekend.)

  3. Oh I love these!!!
You two look so happy :)
Weddings (and love... and babies... and commercials with puppies... and everything else) make me cry.

I can't wait to see more!
I think you've even inspired me to post one of my favorite candid wedding pics later!

  4. How sweet, I love these - especially the first one. I've always thought that being able to laugh at yourselves was the mark of a good relationship.
(And again, I wish I'd been able to come to your wedding :( )
