This Week: The Awesome

  • Back in December I filled out my financial aid form for next year. Bryn Mawr offers different grants and fellowships, and I checked the box for a renewal of my fellowship and, on a whim, for a teaching assistantship. When I turned in the form, the very nice GSAS assistant told me that normally, TA positions went to older students, and that it was likely that I wouldn't get one. I left it checked anyways, assuming that it would come to nothing. But...I found out yesterday that next year I'll be a TA for Elementary Latin!! This is awesome not only because HOORAY I get to be in the classroom (!!!), but also because as a TA, I only have to take TWO CLASSES a semester. And given how anxious my classes make me, I think we can all agree that only good can come of this. I emailed Preston when I found out, and he immediately wrote back: "Awesome, congratulations! I think that's going to make next year a lot more enjoyable." And although I obviously can't know for sure yet, I have a sneaking suspicion that he's right.
  • Happy Last Day of February! Spring is coming and LALALA I'm not listening to this nonsense about a "Wintry Mix" tonight in Bryn Mawr. Happy Weekend!
