So now I'm back at the apartment, sitting in the faux leather chair of Preston's that I claim to hate but that I secretly love because it's soooo comfortable, and I'm so tired that there might as well be unicorns prancing around the room. Because I probably wouldn't notice.
I promise promise promise that wedding pictures will be up soon (for real this time). But sometimes Safari and Firefox both suck at life and won't let me upload pictures. Like now. So no pictures tonight. OK that was a lie. I didn't actually try. But I will tomorrow. I promise. Ish. But for serious, y'all. All I have the energy to do right now is sit in the chair, drink wine, ignore my homework (ha! as if that takes energy. that just takes good sense), and await Gossip Girl magic tonight (Don't judge. It's fabulous. I also have a love affair with The Hills. Please judge me freely for that). SO, list post it is.
1. I love my Ancient Pastoral graduate seminar. The authors we read (Theocritus and Vergil) make me excited to be in school; more specifically, they remind me why I applied to graduate school, and why I want to get a PhD--because there are some ancient authors I read (that is, authors in Greek and Latin) that make me see beauty and language in a new way. And then I get really excited and I know that THIS is what I want to be studying for the rest of my life. Because I really do love it.
2. I do not love my Ancient Pastoral graduate seminar when it makes me stay up till 3:30 in the morning translating Theocritus. Gross.
3. I'm sure everyone's seen it, but if you haven't, you must watch the SNL skit with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. It is PRICELESS. While we're at it: seriously, Sarah Palin??????? UGH I don't even know where to begin with you. All I know is that, as a woman, I would feel more comfortable undergoing intense dental surgery all day, every day for the rest of my life (and I HATE the dentist) than voting for Sarah Palin. One day I'll erupt and give my reasons why. But not tonight.
4. Yesterday I made the mistake of washing our really, embarrassingly dirty kitchen and bath mats with some dish towels, Preston's socks, and Preston's boxers. I took the mats out of the washer, and they smelled and looked springtime fresh. I took everything else out of the washer, and there was nary a piece of laundry that wasn't covered in SO MUCH dirt/dog hair/silt/ and I don't know what else. After this discovery, I didn't want to dry these newly, stupendously dirty items with the clean ones; however, we were also, at that point, out of quarters, so now the newly, stupendously dirty (and probably/definitely still damp) items are sitting in a laundry bag on the den floor. With OTHER laundry piled on top of it. Filling our lives with mildew and grossness. And I have no intention of doing laundry tonight. Or tomorrow, considering we're still out of quarters.
5. I run the half marathon on Sunday.
6. My Mom is coming on Saturday. And while I can't wait to see her (because I love her AND because she's bringing THE NEW PUPPY!!!)....still. I have quite a bit of cleaning to do. Which is distressing considering I spent all day Saturday cleaning. Preston and I need to stop living like college freshmen boys (I have photographic evidence of just how nasty the apartment was. Just you wait). It's grossing me out.
6. Today the dress I was wearing BROKE. WHILE I WAS WEARING IT. It wasn't even a tight dress. In fact, it's a little big on me. Regardless, because today hates me, one strap just popped up when I leaned back to stretch my arms over my head. And then I had to come home to change while trying to hold in place the spaghetti strap of my formerly spaghetti strapped dress so that all of Bryn Mawr wouldn't see my bra.
7. It's almost time for Gossip Girl!
8. But I'm so tired I might not make it! EGADS!
9. Does anyone else kind of love that it's, very occasionally, starting to feel like fall in the Mid Atlantic? Blue skies, crunchy leaves, crisp morning/evening air....mmm...even though we all know how I love my summer days, fall is really growing on me.
10. I made delicious veggie soup on Sunday morning. I'm pretty sure it made 8 servings. And I'm pretty sure it's already almost gone, since for breakfast #2/morning snack/lunch/afternoon snack I consumed vats of vegetable soup. And I'm pretty sure that was about 6 servings of vegetable soup in the space 6 hours. But it was quite delicious.
